Sexual assault and domestic violence are far more common than we'd like to think. These crimes don't discriminate between age, race, gender identity, or economic status; they truly can happen to anyone. Every 98 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted. One in four women and one in seven men will be victims of domestic violence over the course of their lifetimes. Shame and fear often prevent people from reporting the crimes and from getting appropriate medical care for their injuries.
