Your feet carry you through your whole life, and foot or ankle pain can affect nearly everything you do. GBMC Health Partners Podiatry provides comprehensive care for the foot, ankle and lower leg, helping patients in Towson and throughout the greater Baltimore area stay active, comfortable and on their feet.

Podiatrists are Doctors of Podiatric Medicine (DPMs): physicians and surgeons who specialize in diagnosing and treating conditions of the foot and ankle. Our practice offers both conservative, nonsurgical treatment and advanced surgical care, so you can get the right level of care for your needs, often in one place.

Conditions we treat

We diagnose and treat the full range of foot and ankle conditions, from everyday aches to complex problems. Common reasons patients come to see us include:

Heel and arch pain

Plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, Achilles tendinitis and other causes of heel and arch pain that make each step uncomfortable.

Bunions and toe deformities

Bunions, hammertoes and other changes in the joints of the toes that can cause pain, rubbing and trouble with footwear.

Nerve pain

Neuromas (including Morton’s neuroma), pinched nerves and nerve pain between the toes, as well as peripheral neuropathy.

Diabetic foot care

Routine foot exams, wound and ulcer care, and prevention of complications for patients living with diabetes. Regular podiatric care plays a key role in keeping small problems from becoming serious ones.

Wounds and ulcers

Diabetic foot ulcers, slow-healing wounds and related infections.

Sports and overuse injuries

Ankle sprains, stress fractures, tendinitis and other injuries from running, sports and everyday activity.

Fractures and trauma

Broken bones, sprains and other injuries to the foot and ankle.

Skin and nail conditions

Ingrown toenails, toenail fungus, warts, corns, calluses, athlete’s foot and excessive sweating of the feet.

Arthritis and joint conditions

Arthritis and gout affecting the many joints of the foot and ankle.

Flat feet and structural concerns

Flat feet, high arches and other structural issues that affect how you walk and where you feel pain.

If you’re experiencing foot or ankle pain, or a problem that isn’t listed here, we encourage you to reach out. Many foot conditions are easier to treat when addressed early.

Treatments and services

We take a conservative approach whenever possible, starting with the least invasive treatment that will resolve your problem. When surgery is the best option, you’ll have access to advanced surgical care from a fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon.

Nonsurgical care

  • Custom orthotics and prescription shoe inserts
  • Diabetic foot care and preventive foot exams
  • Wound and ulcer care
  • In-office treatment of ingrown toenails, warts, corns and calluses
  • Toenail and fungal nail treatment
  • Injection therapy for pain and inflammation
  • Bracing, splinting and fracture immobilization
  • Footwear guidance and activity modification

Surgical care

When conservative treatment isn’t enough, we offer surgical correction of foot and ankle conditions, including:

  • Bunion and hammertoe correction
  • Removal of neuromas and other painful growths
  • Tendon and ligament repair
  • Fracture repair
  • Reconstructive foot and ankle surgery

When to see a podiatrist

Consider making an appointment if you have:

  • Foot, heel or ankle pain that lasts more than a few days or keeps returning
  • A bunion, hammertoe or other change in the shape of your foot
  • An ingrown toenail, wart or nail problem that’s painful or won’t heal
  • Diabetes and want to protect your feet, or notice any sore, cut or change in your feet
  • A wound on your foot that is slow to heal
  • Numbness, tingling or burning in your feet
  • An ankle injury, sprain or suspected fracture

You don’t need to live with foot pain. Early care can often prevent a small problem from becoming a bigger one.
