On April 20, more than 500 individuals gathered to make strides for a vital cause at GBMC's 9th annual Walk a Mile in Their Shoes event. This year's walk, co-chaired by GBMC HealthCare Board Member Alexis “Lucky” Thompson and Chief Medical Information Officer Dr. Fred Chan, showcased a remarkable display of community solidarity for the program’s patients and staff.

We were thrilled to have leadership from First Lady of Maryland, Dawn Moore, serving as the event's honorary co-chair. Her involvement underscored the state’s commitment to supporting local health and social initiatives. Many other local leaders joined, including Baltimore County Executive John Olszewski Jr. and Baltimore County State’s Attorney Scott Schellenberger. A special highlight was the participation of Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, who not only walked, but also took the time to speak with athletes from Stevenson University attending to support the cause.

GBMC is grateful for the outpouring of support for this critical program in our community. As we look toward the future, GBMC is excited to build on this year's event success and continue raising awareness for our SAFE & DV Program. With preparations already underway, we hope you will join us in 2025 for the 10th annual Walk a Mile in Their Shoes.
