Knowing more about your risk for cancer can help reduce anxiety and prepare for the future.

At the Harvey Institute for Human Genetics at GBMC, genetic counseling can assess your risk of a hereditary cancer condition, allow for discussion of genetic testing options and provide counseling on how to manage your health moving forward. This information can be useful to an entire family.

"For many, knowledge is power," Jennifer Billiet, MGC, Clinical Genetics counselor at the Harvey Institute for Human Genetics at GBMC HealthCare, said. "We want to empower patients with as much information as possible so they can make informed decisions about their health."

"It was so helpful just to know," patient Dara Friedman-Wheeler said. "Having the information from the tests and my sessions with Jennifer has allowed me to navigate my health care with more confidence."

We're more than just healthcare providers. We're your team. At GBMC, we face cancer, together.
